Things change.

The feelings from the last year cannot appropriately be expressed in words. After what seems like a rebirth, I’ve decided to spread my wings (again).

I start a new job in global operations for a company called Circ. Circ is a micromobility company based in Berlin, Germany. Starting with scooters, the revolution is just beginning … (I need to work on my elevator pitch!)

It’s not easy to leave Nairobi. It’s not easy to love Nairobi. But over four and a half years I’ve built a home in this city. I’ve loved and lost, fought and won, laughed and cried. I’ve built a family and and life in the most amazing place on earth.

But things change.

I’m hours away from celebrating what feels like a very temporary departure. The last six weeks have been full of tears – both happy and sad. This next step marks another juncture in adventure of a lifetime. I’ve learned, this year, that life can be unexpectedly brutal. I’ve also learned that love is a force worth following.

I arrived in Nairobi on March 17th, 2015. I knew no one, and nothing about how fundamentally my life would change. I leave Nairobi a little wiser, a little stronger, and with a lot more self love (and hair). To whatever the future has in store, Twende.
